Which Metal Ceramic Or Hard Alloy Has Higher Wear Resistance?

Views: 1     Author: Zhuzhou Jinding Cemented Carbide Co., Ltd     Publish Time: 2024-07-29      Origin: Site

Ceramic materials generally have higher wear resistance compared to hard alloys. This is due to their extreme hardness and ability to withstand abrasion. Ceramics are noted for having a much longer service life in comparison to even the hardest steels, with some ceramics outperforming steel by 10 to 20 times in terms of wear resistance .

However, it's important to note that ceramics, while being harder and more wear-resistant, are also more brittle than metal alloys. This brittleness can make them less suitable for applications where impact resistance and toughness are required .
