4. Apply the Major Load:

Apply the major or main load to the indenter. The major load is determined by the hardness scale being used (e.g., Rockwell C). For tungsten carbide, the Rockwell C scale often uses a 150-kilogram load.

5. Dwell Time:

Allow the major load to dwell for a specified period to ensure proper indentation.

6. Unload:

Unload the major load, and the depth of penetration is measured. The Rockwell hardness value is determined based on this depth.

7. Record the Hardness Value:

Record the Rockwell hardness value, which is displayed on the Rockwell hardness scale. The hardness value is expressed as HRC.

It's essential to follow the specific testing procedures and standards outlined in applicable industry standards or specifications. Additionally, proper calibration of the testing equipment is crucial to obtaining accurate and reliable hardness measurements.
