What are the issues to pay attention to when using hard alloy saw blades for cutting cast iron?

When using hard alloy saw blades to cut cast iron, the following issues need to be noted:

1. Saw blade installation:

-Ensure that the saw blade is firmly installed, the contact surface between the flange and the saw shaft is clean and flat, and the screws are tightened appropriately to prevent the saw blade from loosening or shifting during operation.

2. Saw blade preheating:

-Especially before starting cutting in low-temperature environments, preheating the saw blade appropriately can reduce thermal shock and reduce the risk of damage to the saw blade.

3. Cutting speed:

-Avoid excessive cutting speed to prevent the saw blade from overheating, which can lead to a decrease or even damage in the performance of the hard alloy.

4. Feed rate:

-Control the feed rate well. A fast feed may cause excessive load on the saw blade, while a slow feed may reduce efficiency and increase the friction time between the saw blade and cast iron.

5. Cooling and lubrication:

-Provide sufficient and uniform cooling lubricant to reduce cutting temperature, reduce saw blade wear, and assist in chip removal.

6. Cutting direction:

-Follow the correct cutting direction and generally cut along the texture direction of the cast iron to achieve better cutting results and reduce saw blade wear.

7. Equipment stability:

-Ensure the stability and accuracy of the cutting equipment, and reduce the impact of vibration on the saw blade.

8. Regular inspections:

-Regularly check the wear of the saw blade during the cutting process. If there is excessive wear, tooth breakage, etc., the saw blade should be replaced or ground in a timely manner.

9. Safety protection:

-Operators should wear appropriate protective equipment, such as goggles, earplugs, etc., to ensure personal safety.

For example, in a certain machining factory, due to the lack of control over cutting speed and feed rate, the hard alloy saw blade rapidly heats up and experiences tooth breakage when cutting cast iron, which not only affects production progress but also increases costs.
